I had the incredible privilege to attend Bible College and Seminary.

I don’t take this lightly. Everyone who wants to go to just one of these aren’t always given the opportunity.

My husband and I love teaching Bible studies & classes. Our favorite subject is Christian Living. Most people like this subject, but there is always that one.

They want something different. They say they want to “go deep in the Word.” They talk about finding a “nugget” in scripture.

A nugget?

Are we talking golden or chicken?

We all need to go deep. I get excited when someone is passionate about the scriptures. But when I tell them how they can “Go deep in the Word” they normally don’t like my answer.

Going deep in the Word is living it.

It’s when we actually love our neighbor. It’s when we pray for those who despitefully use us. It’s when we study to show ourselves approved. It’s when we show patience with our spouse and children. It’s when we ask God for wisdom. It’s when we look for the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.

These are just a few ways we can go deep. There is so much more to apply.

If we applied God’s Word to our lives, we would be unrecognizable. We would have a deeper relationship with God.

Knowing something isn’t enough, living it is the point.

Someone reading this is probably thinking “Yeah this is nice, but it’s a lot easier said than done.”

And you’re right. It is a lot easier said than done.

Change is hard. It takes courage to admit we need to make improvements. I am sure if you don’t know where to start,  your family can get a list for you quickly.

At the end of the day, there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting more Biblical knowledge. Keep reading your Bible every day. Join a Bible Study. Hear preaching. If you can go to Bible College or Seminary, do it. But realize that NONE of these things matter if you don’t apply what you have heard.

Let’s go deep in the Word, and start living it.
